The Psalmist proclaims: “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; let the whole earth stand in awe of him,” (Psalm 96:9).
The beauty of holiness, and the awe we experience when standing before God, is evident in the YouTube video embedded above.
My kids especially love the latter half, which features scenes of a mountainous monastery in the snow, as well as monks walking in verdant forests and near waterfalls.
The entire video montage is accompanied by a famous recording of the Polyeleos, a setting of Psalm 135/36, as chanted by the monks of Simonopetra Monastery on Mt. Athos: “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Alleluia!”
