According to the official Facebook page of the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated today in a common prayer service with His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, at the Prophet Elijah Church in Aleppo.

Other news agencies have reported that a similar prayer service took place at the St. Aphrem Syriac Orthodox Cathedral in Aleppo as well.

The Patriarchs and their delegations prayed for the release of the two abducted Archbishops, Metropolitan Boulos Yazigi, the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo, and Metropolitan Yohanna Ibrahim, the Syriac Archbishop of Aleppo, both of whom have been missing for two years after being kidnapped by Islamist extremists.
