Dr. Kyriaki FitzGerald, Adjunct Professor of Theology at Holy Cross, joined Metropolitan Kallistos of Diokleia to offer the keynote presentations at a conference on Orthodox Women’s Ministry held at Heythrop College in London on September 11-13, 2015. Both spoke on the theme “The Call to Holiness: The Role of the Laity in the Orthodox Church.”
The Inter-Orthodox conference was sponsored by the Coptic Orthodox Church and received the blessing of Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria. The gathering brought together over two hundred participants from eight countries and a number of Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches.
The conference was organized by Donna Marie Risk, a 2008 graduate from Holy Cross and now a doctoral candidate in Patristics at King’s College, London. Other speakers included Dr. Mariz Tadros, formerly of the American University in Cairo; Emmanuel Gergis, founder of the St. Cyril Orthodox Society and College; and Fr. Seraphim El-Baramousy from the Monastery of St. Mary El Baramous near Alexandria, Egypt.

This pan-Orthodox Christian conference is designed especially for men and women who desire to learn more deeply about the participation of women in the life of the Church, especially through the powerful witness of female saints through history.
