As many of our listeners know, there was extreme flooding in South Carolina as a result of Hurricane Joaquim.  Dams were breached, interstate highways have been closed, at least 17 people are dead, and tens of thousands more are without shelter, power, or drinking water.  On the phone, to tell us more about the situation is International Orthodox Christian Charities, US Country Representative, Dan Christopulos.  We also have Fr. Thomas Moore, the priest at Holy Apostles Church, West Columbia, South Carolina and a member of the IOCC Emergency Response Network.   Listen as they tell us about the current and future needs and how you can help.

Go to IOCC.org and click “DONATE NOW”  Then choose”designation” to support.  “United States Emergency Response Fund”  or “Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fund.” Each fund will provide immediate relief as well as long-term support through emergency or call toll free at 1-877-803-4622, or mail a check or money order payable to IOCC, P.O. Box 17398, Baltimore, MD 21297-0429.

The Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) is committed to the support of her sister agencies under the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops.  This includes IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities).  “In the spirit of Christ’s love, IOCC offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination, and strengthens the capacity of the Orthodox Church to so respond”.  IOCC has undertaken significant initiatives to help those in need.  Notably 92% of every dollar donated to the IOCC directly helps those affecting dire situations.
