Orthodox Christian Network brings you news of events and people important to the life of the Orthodox Church around the world. OCN highlights media organizations that track these important stories.
Learn about St. Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center, New York. Inspired by the project to rebuild St. Nicholas Shrine, the Orthodox Christian Network is proud to feature stories and news related to its progress. On September 11, 2001, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was crushed under the falling Twin Towers. Now, the faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America are called to rebuild that which was once there, so that it may continue to be a beacon of light and hope in lower Manhattan. It will be a house of worship for the Greek Orthodox community, and a place of prayer and solace for all people.
The owners of Corona Concrete and the CEO of Titan America LLC Cement Company visited St. Nicholas this past week to see the progress of the construction. The two companies are donating the entire concrete and cement for the rebuilding of St. Nicholas. Both Fr. Alexander Karloutsos and Jerry Dimitriou gave updates on the construction to the group as well answering any questions. We can not thank Corona and Titan enough for their generosity! They are laying the foundation for the National Shrine!! Check out the recent post on Facebook to learn more!
