Orthodox Christian Network brings you news of events and people important to the life of the Orthodox Church around the world. OCN highlights media organizations that track these important stories.
On Wednesday, June 15, Rev. Dr. John Chryssavgis, director, Ecumenical Patriarchate Press Office for the Holy and Great Council arranged for a Webinar concerning the upcoming Council, scheduled for June 16-27, 2016, at the Orthodox Academy of Crete.
The Holy and Great Council, which will gather approximately 500 representatives from the autocephalous (internally self-governing) Orthodox Churches, plans to discuss issues ranging from the mission of the Orthodox Church in the modern world and its relations with other Christian churches, to the importance of fasting and the sacrament of marriage.
Listen to the recorded Webinar via YouTube which addresses questions concerning the Patriarchates who have changed their minds and are refusing to attend, the governances and processes of a council of this magnitude, why the Council isn’t being delayed to address the concerns of the Churches who are not attending, and how the Council is the process to unity and not the result of unity.
