A Romanian Church Made Entirely of Ice

It’s become something of a tradition.

For the last several years, Romanians in the remote Fagaras mountains have built a church entirely out of ice.

Modeled after an old church in Transylvania, the “Ice Church” is about 46 feet long and 23 feet wide, constructed out of ice blocks taken from Balea Lake, and only accessible by cable car, after a ride that takes pilgrims 6,600 feet above sea level.

As in years past, the Ice Church is once again in the news, attracting the attention of mainstream media, ranging from ABC to AP to US News & World Report.Romanian-Ice-Church,-Blessing-with-Holy-Water-1
