St. Tikhon’s Alumni and Seminarians Retreat

St. Tikhon’s Alumni and Seminarians Retreat

0

South Canaan, Pa. — The Alumni Association of St. Tikhon’s Seminary is holding a 24-hour retreat on September 1-2.

All alumni are welcome to attend at no cost, and there will be an opportunity for those who live far away to register for an online broadcast of the seminars and annual meeting.

Featured speakers include Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick (STOTS ’07) and Archimandrite Sergius [Bowyer] (STOTS ’05), and participants in the full retreat will earn five continuing education credits.

“We hope that alumni will take advantage of this opportunity to earn some of their required continuing education credits, to recharge spiritually, and also spend time with the current seminarians,” Priest Patrick Burns, president of the association, said. “The alumni have sponsored a BBQ for seminarians around this time for many years, but holding a 24-hour retreat will provide everyone with an extended time to renew friendships and form closer bonds.”

Thursday’s seminar with Fr. Andrew will focus on practical ideas to foster leadership, healing, and change in parish communities, and Friday’s seminar with Fr. Sergius will discuss spirituality and prayer in the context of busy ministries. In addition to the seminars, there will be a small group discussion session, a panel discussion, and prayer in the monastery church.

A flyer which includes the retreat’s schedule is available for download and printing here.

“We hope this retreat, developed from a suggestion by our alumni, becomes a new tradition and helps foster deeper relationships among alumni and current seminarians,” Archpriest Steven Voytovich, STOTS Dean, said.

To inquire about the retreat or to register, contact Teresa Vaux-Michel at 570-561-1818, ext 101 or teresa.vauxmichel@stots.edu.

Donations to support this new initiative are also welcome.

“The Alumni Association plans to cover the cost of holding this event, including food, instruction, and the online component,” Fr. Burns said. “To do so we need your support.”

Please send checks payable to “St. Tikhon’s Seminary” to Fr. Patrick Burns at 59 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, CT 06401-2203, or contact him with questions at pnevmaticmotives@gmail.com.
