Have you ever thought, “But what can I do?” Take a tip from Michael Tabrizi. Originally from Israel, but in America since 1989, Michael has owned Tabrizi’s, a restaurant on the Baltimore harbor, since 2007. Recently he was inspired to offer a free meal to a homeless man, and then he realized he had the resources to do more; so much more. He contacted the Baltimore Area Concierge Association and the local shelters, and now buses are bringing homeless people to his restaurant for a free meal three times a day this week. He will likely feed over 1,000 people. He’s calling it Homeless Restaurant Week. It’s a play on Baltimore’s Restaurant Week scheduled for July 24- August 1. Meals consist of chicken or beef with vegetables, sparkling cider served in champagne flutes, and ice cream for dessert.
Why is he doing all of this? “I don’t think they are hungry in the sense to fill the stomach. I think they are hungry for friendship and human contact,” Tabrizi said.
