A Visual Tour of St. Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary

Our primary goal at the  Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) is to share the truth of Orthodoxy with the world. Our secondary goal is to generate fruitful conversations that strengthen us in our own faith and increase our ability to share it in meaningful ways with our fellow human beings. This is why OCN has collected a group of various teachers, philosophers, priests, artists, parents, and writers to post articles on our blog, The Sounding.  Enjoy the following post and feel free to comment below.

A Day at St. Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary

St. Tikhon’s Monastery is the oldest Orthodox monastery in America, founded by St. Tikhon himself in 1905.

Over the years, countless Orthodox Christians have made pilgrimages to this holy place, nestled in the Pocono mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. Five different saints have visited, lived, or taught here, leaving behind an astounding array of wonder-working icons and relics, as well as a living tradition of Orthodox spirituality.

Hundreds of priests have received informal training at St. Tikhon’s, and, since 1938, even more have received their formal education theological education at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, which sits just across the street from the monastery and works in close collaboration with the monks who have served the Divine Liturgy on these grounds every single day for 110 years.

Check out the video above for a very brief visual tour of St. Tikhon’s historic and sacred grounds — and consider visiting them some time soon.
