On Monday, June 20, 2016, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America executive director Jerry Dimitriou spoke about the progress of the reconstruction of the church. He said the goal is to be a place for reflection and bereavement for those who lost someone on Sept. 11, 2001, in conjunction with the nearby memorial, and he said the reconstruction work is due to be completed by early 2018.
