Carolina Panthers Grant a Wish for Braylon

Did you know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?  This morning, with only a few days left in September to spare, I was inspired by a young cancer patient, Braylon Beam of Denver, NC.  Make a Wish made it possible for him to be an honorary associate head coach during Fan Fest on Aug. 7, for the Carolina Panthers.  He led a press conference, carried the playbook and taught the players a few dance moves in the locker room.  He even offered the NFL team a few words before the game:

Be brave, be positive, never give up, have a heart, go Cats.

It was his love for dancing that made daytime host, Ellen, notice.  Ellen, known for dancing with passion over grace, invited him and his parents to her show.  In the interview, Braylon’s father mentioned how they use dance to help deal with the emotions of the treatments, to “Make it more positive. Make it better.”

It was when he danced with the Panthers, that the world took notice of this courageous boy.  I loved watching the players surrounding him, join in with him, and experience the joy dance brings.  I was blessed by his passion and commitment to the dance.  I am confident Braylon will fight as long as he can.

We pray for Braylon, that our Lord who is merciful and gracious will grant him health and offer courage and comfort to his family during this difficult time.
