Chicago’s Family Synaxis Ministry

Chicago’s Family Synaxis Ministry

A Greater Chicago Broadcast Ministries program, Different Drummers, featured the Family Synaxis Ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.

Different Drummers is Chicago’s only spotlight on contemporary values and interests and talents of teenage youth and young adults.

Fr. John Rallis, the ministry’s spiritual father, says “Synaxis is a Greek word which means the gathering.  Our goal is to bring together families with their children…to discuss  issues regarding marriage and parenting.”   He spoke about the mission of the ministry which is to help families grow together and stay connected.

Also present for the interview were the Family Synaxis directors, Maria Kroll and Carrie Colis.

The Family Synaxis Ministry offers two family retreats: a Lenten Retreat and a Labor Day Weekend Retreat. And three additional retreats: a Women’s Retreat, a Men’s Retreat and Parenting University.
