The Christian Rights and Freedom Institute will hold its 2nd Annual National Symposium March 10-12, 2016, at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Naples, Florida.

JAY SEKULOW, Esq – KEYNOTE SPEAKER (March 12, 3pm – Sanctuary)
Jay is Chief Counsel and Founder of the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) and is the most accomplished US attorney on matters of Religious Freedom & Human Rights. He is constantly in the public eye defending the Persecuted Church, Pro-Life, Free Speech, Religious Liberty, National Security, the Constitution, & challenging Executive Overreach. He was instrumental in the release of American Pastor Saeed Abedini – a U.S. citizen – who was imprisoned in Iran for more than three years of harsh treatment for his Christian faith.
Dr. Andrew Ekonomou, Esq: “Emperors, Sultans and Patriarchs: Observations on the Survival of the Ecumenical Patriarchate During the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires” (March 11, 7 pm – Cultural Hall)
Dr. Ekonomou serves as senior counsel to both the American Center for Law and Justice in Washington, D.C., and the European Centre for Law and Justice in Strasbourg, France, where he participates in human rights and religious liberties cases. He studied philosophy, medieval history; he is a lawyer and has a Ph.D. in Medieval and Byzantine History. His doctoral dissertation is entitled “Byzantine Rome and the Greek Popes”. He is a professor of law; lectures in Byzantine history and literature at Emory University.
Dr. Timothy Patitsas: “Ethical Justification for Christian Rights and Freedom”. (March 10, 8 pm – Cultural Hall)
He is the Assistant Professor of Ethics at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. Recent writings include, “The Marriage of Priests: Towards an Orthodox Christian Theology of Gender”. His is interested in the mystical ethics of the Christian Orthodox tradition, conducting ongoing research in the fields of epistemology, urban economics, and anthropology. He directs and leads the study abroad program of Holy Cross hosted in Constantinople, Rome, Greece, and Mount Athos. Prof. Patitsas serves on the boards of The Russian Orphan Opportunity Fund and The Center for Byzantine Material Arts.

On Saturday, March 14, 2015, St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Naples Florida and the South Florida Archons hosted its first annual National Christian Rights and Freedom Symposium – ‘Uplifting Christ and Witnessing for our Faith in the Face of Radical Extremism.
The First Annual National Christian Rights & Freedom Symposium featured several prominent speakers including Dr. Anthony Limberakis, National Commander and Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Rev. Father Fouad Saba, Dean of the St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral (Coral Gables, FL), Father Philemon Patitsas, Presiding Priest of the St. Katherine Greek orthodox Church (Naples, FL), John Scurtis, Regional Commander and Archon, Harry Demas, Archon, and Dr. Harry Dimopoulos, Chairman of the Christian Rights and Freedom Institute.
