Do you go to the Church when you are sick, or straight to the doctor? The Orthodox faith has a tradition of anointing the sick with holy oil for the purpose of healing, and that anointing is available all year long. You might have attended the Unction service during Holy Week. Listen as Fr. Chris speaks with Dr. Paul Meyendorff, the Fr. Alexander Schmemann Professor of Liturgical Theology at St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. They discuss his book, The Anointing of the Sick (The Orthodox Liturgy) and the role of the Church when we need healing.
But first, Fr. Chris speaks with Charissa Gianos. Charissa has written several children’s books that encourage young people to respond to God’s love for us. She also sings and produces the Akathist to the Mother of God, Nurturer of Children and Akathist to the Mother of God, Healer of Cancer, available on our AMAZON store.
