Holocaust Survivor Creates Weidenfeld Safe Haven Fund To Rescue Christian Refugees

Lord George Weidenfeld, a Jewish Holocaust survivor, has created a fund to rescue thousands of Christians from Syria and Iraq to show thanks to Sir Nicholas Winton, a Christian man who helped him escape Nazi-occupied Austria as a child. While the fund has received scrutiny about designating its funds strictly to Christians and not Muslims, the fund has already begun saving the lives of Christians affected by persecution and living in these war-torn countries. Just this past week, The Weidenfeld Safe Havens Fund has saved 150 Syrian Christians by flying them to Poland on a privately chartered plane, allowing them to seek refuge. The fund also has paid support of the first 12-18 months in their new country to the refugees.

Lord Weidenfeld said, “The primary objective is to bring the Christians to safe haven. ISIS is unprecedented in its primitive savagery compared with the more sophisticated Nazis.” His hope is to mirror the work done by Sir Nicholas Winton, a Christian man who helped 669 children escape from Nazi persecution.
