Fr. Deacon Basil Hinkle
Deacon Basil serves at, and is a founding member of the Prophet Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Mission in Ellensburg Washington, where he and his family own and operate a restaurant. He was most recently re-appointed to the Growth Management Hearings Board by Washington Governor Jay Inslee, where he serves as an administrative law judge. Additionally, Deacon Basil teaches High School Civics and Economics at St. Athanasius Academy, is a volunteer Fire Department Chaplain and EMT Firefighter.
He was elected as County Commissioner twice before being elected to the Washington State House of Representatives. After serving 10 years in the House, 6 of those as the Minority Whip, he served two terms on the Washington Health Benefits Exchange. He was the Founder and CEO of the Jennifer Dunn Leadership Institute and His long career in public policy and government inspired his Masters Thesis titled “The Transforming Impact of Orthodox Philanthropy.”
