ISIS Hacks into Parish Website

ISIS’s threats to Christians not only extend throughout the Middle East but overseas as well. According to a recent article from the Christian Post, ISIS just last week hacked the website of Our Lady of Mercy, a Syriac Catholic Church in Sydney, Australia. The militant organization posted gruesome videos of executions on the website along with threatening messages of waging “war against non-believers until Rome is conquered.”

This congregation believes they were hacked since they are mostly Iraqis and Syrians. Additionally, their community has several refugees from the Middle East.

Members of the community took to the church’s facebook page to respond to ISIS’s posts.

“We do not retaliate with guns or unkind words, but through the power of Christ in prayer, faith, hope, love and knowledge,” one post stated. “We ask everyone to keep vigilant and pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters.”

Widespread understanding of the mission and activities of our seminaries and their sacred work is an essential part of a healthy church.

Much like public radio, the Orthodox Christian Network relies on the support of our listeners.  Anonymous donors have issued a $20,000 matching challenge in honor of OCN’s 20th Anniversary! For every $1 you give, $2 will be donated! You can send your gift by direct mail, over the phone, or on our website.

Your gift during our annual End of the Year Appeal will ensure that OCN may continue to offer free, high-quality, theological media.

Be on the lookout for our new mobile app, “Spark”, to be launched in the near future. The app will raise awareness of Christian persecution worldwide and provide you and millions of Orthodox with different ways to act.
