It’s that Time of Year Again, Back to School Season Is Here

It’s that time of the year again, Back to School Season.  This often means back to school shopping: school supplies, new shoes, maybe a new backpack.   As we get back to a “regular” schedule, and back into the rhythm of homework, afterschool activities and making lunches again, let’s take a moment to think about what we really need to focus on for the upcoming school year.

The beginning the school year is exciting, but can also include anxiety, for children and parents alike. Some of us are sending our little ones off to Kindergarten, or middle school, and some of us the first year of college.  As parents we worry about whether we’ve prepared them for the challenges ahead, reviewed and practiced enough reading and math, provided them with everything they need for a great academic year.  Our children may be nervous about a new school, a new teacher, not having friends in their class.  All we can do is take a leap of faith and put our trust in God.

Letting go and trusting that God will give us and our children the strength to work hard and meet the challenges of the upcoming year, and relying on faith is really all we need to do.

Here are a few back to school items to help us stay focused on our faith and to help us remember to turn to God when we’re feeling anxious or scared. Note: (The links in this post are affiliate links, and we will be compensated when you make a purchase by clicking through our links. OCN wishes everyone a wonderful back to school season.  The words of Philippians 4:6-7 can help us to stay focussed on our faith and bring us peace in what can be a stressful time:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
