Life by Faith: Father Nicholas Vieron

Life by Faith : Father Nicholas Vieron

A legacy of ecumenicism that changed the face of Memphis.

Father Nicholas Vieron has faithfully served the Annunciation Memphis community since his arrival in 1955. For more than six decades, he helped develop a culture of community, bridging relationships between Greeks and non-Greeks within the Church, and across traditional boundaries of faith. Throughout the early- and mid-twentieth century, segregation was widespread in Memphis. Under the leadership of Rabbi James Wax and Father Nicholas, the Memphis Ministers Association played an integral role in negotiating between the city government and the black sanitation workers. Throughout his life, Father Nick called on his dedication to the Orthodox Christian faith to guide his actions.

Life by Faith is a new video series powered by the OCN following everyday Orthodox Christians living their “Life by Faith”. With each interview, we explore how faith impacts family, careers, friendships, daily routines and decisions. Our aim is to inspire Orthodox Christians everywhere with stories of triumph, struggle, love, loss, and hope in Christ. We hope that these stories will be a reminder that we are never alone in our journey of living a “Life by Faith”.
