MINNEAPOLIS, MN: Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, officiated Sunday Services at St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church on Sunday, August 21. He was honored to joined as his guest by United States Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Senior Minnesota United States Senator Amy Klobuchar was invited to join Bishop Demetrios at Sunday Service in Minneapolis. Senator Klobuchar is currently Vice-Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee and also sits on Judiciary Committee, Committee on Rules and Administration, Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, and the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee.

Currently one of only twenty women in the United States Senate and the first woman to be elected Senator from Minnesota, Senator Klobuchar has been named by The New York Times as one of the seventeen women most likely to become the first female President of the United States, and by MSNBC and The New Yorker as a possible nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos server as the Chancellor of the Metropolis of Chicago, under the leadership of Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago. In his position, he travels throughout the Metropolis of Chicago to visit most of the parishes annually. He has received nationwide recognition for his human rights activities and interfaith outreach, including his leadership in ending the death penalty in Illinois, state resolutions calling for Religious Freedom for the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, and just recently this year official recognition by the United States of the Genocide by ISIS against the Christian minority population of Syria and Iraq.

The Metropolis of Chicago oversees all Greek Orthodox Parishes within Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, as well as large portions of Missouri and Indiana.
