OCF on Georgetown’s Campus

Does your campus have an Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF)? What is OCF? OCF is a national campus ministry designed to provide students with opportunities to encounter Christ and grow in their Orthodox faith while in college. They accomplish this through their growing network of on-campus chapters led by talented students, clergy, and lay advisors as well as through programs such as regional retreats, College Conferences, Real Break, and the Summer Leadership Institute.

Georgetown’s OCF celebrates the Exultation of the Holy Cross.

In a blog for Georgetown’s Office of Campus Ministry, titled “An Orthodox Moment Shared for the Whole Community”  Mariam Gachechiladze, C’17,  wrote, “During the Great Vespers service, in addition to our usual prayers and reading of the Gospel, we chanted in multiple languages to encompass the rich linguistic traditions of Orthodoxy and sang the hymn ‘Before Your Cross We Bow Down in Worship.’ After the service, the Orthodox Chaplaincy hosted a reception to welcome new and returning students, as well as non-Orthodox members of the community, for food and fellowship.”

October is Orthodox Awareness Month (OAM) which is to educate college students across North America about the Orthodox Faith.
