Pan-Orthodox Celebration in Response to Christian Persecution

Faithful Christians of all the Orthodox Christian parishes in South Florida along with their parish priests will gather at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church this Sunday at 6:00 PM to pray for suffering and persecuted Christians throughout the world on the ocassion of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.  This prayer gathering is being organized by the Orthodox Christian Clergy Association of South Florida.  The President of the organization Fr. Mark Leondis, who is also the parish priest of Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton stated, “we are truly blessed to be able to come together in prayer this weekend to offer our Christian witness to the world that we stand with our persecuted and suffering brothers and sisters.  We invite all Christians to come to pray with us this Sunday night during our Pan Orthodox Vesper Service.”

The homily will be offered by Fr. Kirrill Gvosdev and the responses will be chanted by George Theodoridis, Master Chanter of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Washington, DC.  Light Lenten refreshments will be served after the service in the Community Center of the parish.  The services will also be carried live on the internet at
