Responding to Paris With Peace

Responding to Paris With Peace

Responding to Paris with Peace, is how we should continually be reminded to act as Christians. Some letters from around the United States show examples of Americans reacting with words of compassion and calls for peace.

One writer from California says, “So we won’t turn the tide of attacks from the Middle East unless we stop bombing and give assistance to the growing masses of refugees.”

In French news, Metropolitan Hilarion presented deep condolences on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, in his own name at the French Embassy.

There is and there can be no justification for terrorism. The whole world must unite against terrorism. May God help us!
Eternal memory to all the innocent victims. And may the Lord grant consolation to all those who have lost loved ones, and a speedy recovery to all injured.

The statement from the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops reminds us of the words of Saint Peter:

We extend our fraternal solidarity to all people of good will who pray and labor for peace, especially our brother Orthodox Christian Hierarchs in France.  We condemn these barbaric acts against humanity, and during this worrisome time we draw strength from the words of Saint Peter, who encourages us to ‘cast all of our anxieties onto Christ, because He cares for us’ [1 Peter 5:7].

The Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) is an official agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops. OCN offers videos, podcasts, blogs and music, to enhance Orthodox Christian life.  We also report on news events in the Orthodox Church and produce This Week in Orthodoxy, a weekly news video with stories and issues of interest to Orthodox Christians around the world.

Digital Disciple Scholars Program.  The Orthodox Christian Network has established the Digital Disciple Scholars Program on the campus of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.  The purpose is to train our ministry leaders to use multi-media resources to spread the Gospel.  Students promote current issues related to the Orthodox Faith, Christian Persecution, and cover Orthodox News and events on campus.

The Orthodox Christian Network invites you to support our mission by giving to our 10 Cents A Day campaign, where 100% of your gift goes to ministry and 0% to overhead.
