Very Rev. Nathanael Symeonides Elected as Metropolitan of Chicago


At its regularly scheduled meeting under the chairmanship of his His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch BARTHOLOMEW, the Holy and Sacred Synod unanimously elected the Very Rev. Archimandrite Nathanael Symeonides as the Metropolitan of Chicago.   Fr. Symeonides has served as the Director, Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical, Interfaith & Church – World Relations at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.  

He holds a Doctorate of Theology in Bioethics/ Medical Ethics and a Master of Sacred Theology from Boston University.  In addition he holds a Master of Science from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and a Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
