RETREAT SPEAKER: Dn. Michael Tishel

Dn. Michael Tishel, CrossRoad Director, OVM Asst. Director, and Hellenic College Lecturer received a BA in Comparative Historical Theology from Gordon College and a Masters in Theology (Dogmatics) from the Aristotle University of Thessalonika. He has been involved in youth ministry both on the high school and college levels for nine years, working as a youth and young adult leader at his parish, for his diocese, and for Orthodox Christian Fellowship. In addition to directing CrossRoad and the OVM’s student vocation programs, this year Mike is teaching the Eisodos First Year Experience course for incoming students. At his parish, Mike serves as an instructor of catechism, Sunday school teacher, and chanter. Mike is grateful for the opportunity to serve God and his neighbor through the CrossRoad Summer Institute and Hellenic College.

Arrivals begin at 5:00pm on Friday, Dinner is served at 6:30pm, and we will begin the retreat introduction around 8:30pm. It is normal to have participants arrive at all times Friday night since many will be coming after work. Some will arrive as late as midnight and we will post which cabin you will be staying in on the welcome board by the cafeteria.

We will attend Divine Liturgy at the Monastery on Sunday morning and the retreat will end around 12:30pm.

If you are flying, we recommend that you fly into the Fresno Airport. This airport is small and has limited flights (and sometimes expensive) but it is the closest to the Retreat Center. Fresno (FAT) airport is about 45 minutes away and if you fly in anytime after 3pm, someone can pick you up on their way to the retreat.

You can also fly into Northern California and road trip about 4 hours south to the retreat center with the Bay Area Group. San Francisco (SFO) or San Jose (SJC) are great airports to fly into on Friday early afternoon (arrive before 4pm), and fly out late Sunday night (after 7pm). Both San Jose and San Francisco airports are about 4 hours north of the retreat center. #roadtrip

You can fly into Southern California (LAX) or (SNA) Friday afternoon and fly out late Sunday night after 7pm. LAX is about 4.5 hours south and SNA is about 5.5 hours south of the retreat center so you would join in with the people coming from Southern California.
