Our Lord always practiced what He preached!
Have you ever heard somebody say, “Practice what you preach”? Well, that means you do what you say. If you give advice about something, you do it too!
Our Lord, Jesus Christ preached a lot during His ministry. He traveled around, telling people the way God wanted them to be. He told people how to act, how to be right with God. Christ preached, but did you know He also practiced what He preached?
One rule Christ gave us was to “love your enemies.” That’s a hard thing, of course, isn’t it? But in today’s Gospel reading, we hear how Jesus loved His enemies. In the Gospel today, we hear how a Canaanite woman came to Jesus for help. Her daughter was sick and needed healing! Everybody knew that the Canaanite people were enemies to God’s people. What would Jesus do?

SAINT LEO THE GREAT: POPE OF ROME
We celebrate St. Leo on Thursday, February 18th (OC: March 3rd).
Have you ever stood up for something you knew was right? So many of our saints did!
On Thursday, we celebrate the feastday of Saint Leo the Great, Pope of Rome. A pope? That sounds like he was Catholic, not Orthodox! Actually, Saint Leo was both! Many years ago, there was one Christian Church, all together. Saint Leo was the bishop of the
Christian Church in Rome.
Saint Leo was a strong Christian leader. He lived about 1600 years ago, when the one Christian Church was attacked by all kinds of heresies. (A heresy is something that is different from the truth.) Saint Leo fought against those heresies—not with a sword, but by teaching people the truth. He wanted everyone to know what we Christians really believe!
