“The Prayer Team” is a daily devotion written by Fr. Stavros N. Akrotirianakis, written every day since February 2015. Fr. Stavros is the Parish Priest at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Tampa, Florida. It began in February 2015 as an opportunity to write more on the subject of prayer and now has branched into other subjects.

Always Blessed—It Is Enough Part IV—Intimate Moments through Prayer and in Worship

And after He dismissed the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.  When evening came, He was there alone. Matthew 14:23   I wrote a lengthy reflection on my time at summer camp last month which I’ve shared with my parish as a long article in Read more

Always Blessed—It Is Enough Part III—Intimate Moments with the Lord

When I look at Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars which Thou hast established. Psalm 8:3   I wrote a lengthy reflection on my time at summer camp last month which I’ve shared with my parish as a long article in the monthly bulletin. For Read more

Always Blessed—It Is Enough Part II—Intimacy and Contentment are Based on “It is Enough”

And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8   I wrote a lengthy reflection on my time at summer camp last month which I’ve shared Read more

Always Blessed—It Is Enough Part I—The Be-Attitudes Help Us Be Lights in the World

Blessed be the Lord! For He has heard the voice of my supplications. Psalm 28:6  I wrote a lengthy reflection on my time at summer camp last month which I’ve shared with my parish as a long article in the monthly bulletin.  For this week, I’m going to share it Read more

We Must Be Merciful If We Expect God to Be Merciful

At that time, Jesus said this parable, “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; and as he could not pay, his lord Read more

Remove Obstacles and Help Others Find Salvation

If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. This is my defense to those who would examine me. Do we not have the right to our food and drink? Do we not have Read more

Jesus Christ is my_______

I love Thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18: 1-2   One of the most inspiring men I have ever met Read more

Lord, Use Me

Teach me the way I should go, for to Thee I lift up my soul. Psalm 143: 8   Here is a sobering question: Does your prayer to God sound more like “Lord, serve me,” or “Lord, use me”? Do we only ask “Lord, can you do this for me?” or do we offer Read more

Do It As If You Were Doing It for God

Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men. Colossians 3:23 One of the things that continuously frustrates me is the lack of any sense of work ethic. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ordered food at a restaurant, and it is hastily and sloppily prepared. I’ve Read more

Dormition of the Virgin Mary

Christ Had to Become Like Us—He Did So Through the Virgin Mary

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found Read more

Faith Can Move a Mountain
