  • Fr. Nick Mueller

    Fr. Nick was raised in Roseville, California where he attended St. Anna Greek Orthodox Shrine in Roseville, CA with his family. Fr. Nick is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature and Minor in Creative Writing. He graduated from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA in 2015 with a Masters of Divinity. Fr. Nick and Presv. Dena were married in August 2015. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on December 18th, 2016, and the Holy Priesthood on the Feast of St. Anna, July, 25th, 2017 by His Eminence Metropolitan GERASIMOS of San Francisco. He worked at the Department of Religious Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese from 2015 - 2019. During this time he served as a deacon and later as a priest at Taxiarchae/Archangels Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown, MA. Presv. Dena graduated with a Doctorate in English Literature in May 2019. She currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the English Department at UC Berkeley where she continues her research and teaches. Fr. Nick was assigned to Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral October 1, 2019. Fr. Nick and Presb. Dena’s son Symeon was born in August, 2020.

  • Fr. Thomas Zaferes

    Fr Tom has been a priest of the Archdiocese for over 38 and have been the parish priest in Oakland for 12 years. As a Greek orthodox priest, in addition to the blessing to be a liturgist. He enjoys teaching the faith and conducting Bible Studies. Fr. sees himself as a lifelong student and appreciate learning and education. Fr, also highly respect the spiritual life of the Orthodox Church and have learned greatly from the Fathers, writings of the saints, contemporary teachers and spiritual figures as well as the monastic tradition of our holy Church.  He is married to Presvytera Julie and has four grown children: Demetri (who continues to assist him in the altar since 1991), his daughter Katerina who is involved at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan. His daughter Melissa (her newly illumined husband David) of Bryan, Texas. And, Fr. Christopher Zaferes married to Presvytera Sophia and their daughter Gavriella (my first grandchild!) who is the assistant priest at the Annunciation Cathedral, Columbus, Ohio.
