The University of Katherine’s Byzanfest held its Red Carpet Award Ceremony in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday 6th November 2022. Amongst the audience were His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta and several priests.

The event included the screening of 13 short-films, followed by a Q&A with two special guests – Eirini Alligiannis (filmmaker of LOUIE (KR. ONE) GASPARRO 5POINTZ) and actor Nikita Chronis – along with the Festival Director, Chris Vlahonasios. Three exclusive trailers of upcoming Orthodox features – “Sacred Alaska”, “The Black” and “El Tonto por Cristo”.

After 10-days of cinema screenings across Melbourne it was bittersweet to announce the winners.

The Festival is incredibly proud of all filmmakers who formed part of this year’s program.

Byzanfest also held several ZOOM networking session with filmmakers. The aim is to encourage and support Orthodox filmmakers’ efforts so the global Orthodox film industry continues to grow.
