Last Fall, the Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) and the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, Los Angeles announced our collaboration on a new Orthodox Media Ministry at Saint Sophia Cathedral. This Summer, we invite you to join us for a celebration of that collaboration, along with a celebration of OCN’s 30th anniversary year.

Our upcoming Gala, “Connecting To Wisdom (Sophia),” to be held on August 31st, 2024, at Saint Sophia Cathedral’s Huffington Center, will benefit OCN’s “Centuries of Faith, One Network Campaign” and the establishment of the Orthodox Media Ministry at Saint Sophia Cathedral. The Gala will highlight OCN’s 30 year history and the initial efforts of the OMM with cocktails, dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions for the Orthodox Christian community of Los Angeles.

Information about sponsorship opportunities, tickets, and the ability to purchase tables at the event, as well as other event details, will be available soon on this page. We hope to celebrate with you!

A New Media Ministry

OCN and the Cathedral of Saint Sophia are working to establish an expanded Los Angeles resource to communicate the timeless teachings of Orthodox Christianity.

We intend to amplify the Orthodox voice through social media, online programming, and opportunities for Orthodox youth and media professionals in the Los Angeles area to participate in spreading the Faith, building on OCN’s rich tapestry of programs addressing pressing societal issues from the interplay of religion with science to ecumenical and interfaith dialogues, and the Cathedral’s presence in Los Angeles—one of the world’s premier media centers and diverse modern cultures.

The challenge is to address the Now with Eternal Wisdom, to ensure that Orthodox Christianity remains a guiding light for present and future generations.

Initial efforts have focused on the the podcast “Armed with Faith” on OCN platforms hosted by the new Dean of the Cathedral, Father Gary Kyriacou.

OCN will work to assist the Cathedral’s OMM in engagement, teaching and service opportunities for the Los Angeles community’s Orthodox youth leveraging professional talent, within the community and existing in and around LA—social media collaboration, development of new and topical content, interviewing of local Orthodox community and religious leaders, and participation in streaming of Orthodox liturgical services.
