As Orthodox Christians, we are called to love our neighbor, not just in words but in action. Christ Himself taught us that serving those in need is serving Him (Matthew 25:40). Philanthropy—love for humanity—is central to our faith. Whether through feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, or helping struggling families, our acts of service become a living expression of God’s love.

In 2025, the Orthodox Christian Network is embracing “Love Your Neighbor” as a guiding theme, encouraging individuals and parishes to seek new ways to give back to their communities. Parishes have a unique opportunity to strengthen their local areas through charitable initiatives—food drives, clothing donations, mentorship programs, and outreach to the elderly are just a few ways to make a meaningful impact. By working together, we not only serve those in need but also grow spiritually, deepening our connection with Christ and with one another.

If your parish or organization has an outreach initiative, we would love to hear about it! Please share your efforts by emailing info@myocn.net (“Love Your Neighbor” in the headline). Your stories can inspire others to take action and create new opportunities for service. Let’s work together to make Christ’s love visible in our communities.
