Working in media means constant public visibility, and often work on behalf of clients who don’t share Orthodox values.
In this episode of Direct & Unapologetic, Fr. Chris Metropulos sits down with Archon Nick Furris, an Emmy Award-winning producer and director and the founder of Spectrum Films. They discuss when Nick turns down secular work, how his ongoing study of the liturgy as a cradle Orthodox Christian shapes the way he films it, and how his documentaries on Orthodox history and the sacraments help people new to the Church understand what they’re seeing. With younger audiences in mind, Nick makes the case for using Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms to share the faith.
Outside his production work, Nick helped found the Orthodox Public Affairs Committee (OPAC) after Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque, and he describes the organization’s work to raise awareness of Christian persecution around the world.
