Youth Ministry in a Pandemic: Let’s Talk Live

On Thursday August 13th at 7pm OCN will be offering myOCN Community Let’s Talk Live discussion with special guests Yianni Magoulias and Christo Pappademos on youth ministry in a pandemic. Fr. Christopher Metropulos, our Executive Director, will be offering a “Let’s Talk” 1 hour interactive video session on Zoom with limited availability for two-way discussion.

Christo Pappademos

Christo Pappademos is the Pastoral Assistant at The Annunciation Cathedral of San Francisco, CA where he assists and learns from the Dean of the Cathedral, Father Stephen Kyriacou.  Christo was a former high school football coach and has a passion for working with kids. As the pastoral assistant Christo oversees the Altar Boys, guest teaches Sunday School, has Greek folk danced on stage at FDF, coordinates with the Young Adults to run the Cathedral’s homeless feeding program, assists with GOYA, and has recently begun focusing on JOY programs for the younger kids. 

Christo graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Political Science.  He then went on to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and received his Master in Divinity Studies in 2018. Upon graduation he worked as the Pastoral Assistant at the Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Elk Grove, CA. Christo has been blessed to learn from many veteran priests. He now strives to take all that he has learned and pass it on to future generations during his ministry in the years to come.  He is the son of Fr. Constantine and Presytera Chrisoula Papademos of the St. Katherine’s Church in Elk Grove, CA.

Efstratios Magoulias 

Efstratios “Yianni” Magoulias serves as the Pastoral Assistant at the Annunciation parish in Sacramento, California. Yianni is involved with all aspects of parish life in preparation for Holy Ordination. Specifically with the youth and young adults of the parish, he has cultivated successful JOY, Jr. GOYA, and GOYA programs, established active Young Adult (18-22 years old) and Young Professionals ministries (22-30 years old), as well as bringing Annunciation Sacramento to digital ministry, from social media platforms to a state-of-the-art live broadcasting system through the Archdiocesan Department of Internet Ministries. Yianni has also been involved with youth work at the Metropolis and Archdiocesan level, serving as a member of the Metropolis of San Francisco annual Greek Folk Dance and Choral Festival for the past 8 years, and as a staff member for the Ionian Village camping ministry in 2013 and 2014, and returning again as the Logistics Coordinator in 2016. 

Efstratios “Yianni” Magoulias was born and raised at the Annunciation parish in Modesto, California. He is the son of Fr. Jon and Presvytera Georgia who serve at the Annunciation Parish. Having studied classics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he continued his studies at Hellenic College-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, receiving a Master of Divinity in 2018. He recently married his beautiful bride, Danae, and is awaiting ordination to the Holy Diaconate. Despite being in quarantine, Yianni is enjoying exploring Sacramento with his wife and celebrating his favorite soccer team’s championship, Liverpool!

As the Founding Father of the Orthodox Christian Network (OCN), he shepherds a dynamic and rapidly expanding ministry bringing joy, hope, and salvation in Jesus Christ to millions of listeners on the Internet around the world. Fr. Christopher is the former President of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and has served in a number of positions in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
