By Rev. Dr. Christopher Metropulos
Executive Director, Orthodox Christian Network (OCN)
On the joyous occasion of the Name Day of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, we at the Orthodox Christian Network join the faithful throughout our Holy Archdiocese in offering our heartfelt congratulations, gratitude, and prayers for his continued ministry.
In the Orthodox Christian tradition, a Name Day is much more than a personal celebration. It is a sacred reminder of our calling to holiness, of the example of the saints, and of the responsibility each of us carries to reflect the light of Christ in our daily lives.
The name Elpidophoros means “bearer of hope.” What a beautiful and meaningful name, particularly in a world increasingly troubled by division, uncertainty, and spiritual confusion.
Today, perhaps more than ever, our society needs voices that remind us that hope is not merely wishful thinking. Christian hope is rooted in the living Christ, in His Resurrection, and in His promise that darkness will never overcome the light.
As Archbishop Elpidophoros continues his archpastoral ministry, we are reminded of the tremendous responsibility entrusted to those called to shepherd God’s people: to strengthen the faithful, inspire the next generation, preserve the sacred traditions of our Church, and proclaim the timeless truth of the Gospel in an ever-changing world.
At OCN, where our mission is to share the beauty, truth, and hope of Orthodox Christianity with people everywhere, we recognize the importance of this sacred calling. Through every challenge and opportunity, the message of Christ must remain at the center of all that we do.
On this special occasion, we offer our sincere prayers that Almighty God will continue to grant His Eminence good health, spiritual strength, divine wisdom, and the courage to lead with faith, compassion, and conviction.
May his ministry continue to inspire others to discover the extraordinary gift of Orthodox Christianity and the transforming power of a life centered in Jesus Christ.
Your Eminence, on behalf of the entire Orthodox Christian Network family, we wish you a blessed and joyous Name Day. May our Lord grant you many more years of faithful service to His Holy Church.
Εἰς πολλὰ ἔτη, Δέσποτα!
Many Years, Your Eminence!
