Today, all of us at the Orthodox Christian Network (OCN) pause to remember the tragedy of September 11th, 2001—a day forever etched into the heart of our nation.
We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost. We remember the families whose lives were changed forever. We remember the firefighters, police officers, first responders, clergy, medical personnel, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help others.
September 11th showed us the terrible consequences of hatred and violence. But, amid the smoke and devastation, we also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, compassion, and love.
Twenty-five years later, we do not allow the passage of time to diminish our remembrance.
As Orthodox Christians, we remember especially through prayer. Today, we pray for all those who lost their lives, their families and loved ones, and for all those who continue to carry the wounds of that tragic day.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
May the memory of all those who perished on September 11th, 2001, be eternal.
May God continue to comfort those who mourn, protect those who serve, and grant our nation and our world the wisdom to seek peace rather than hatred, unity rather than division, and love rather than fear.
